I have to say, having a cat and a puppy is a lot like having disobedient, non-english speaking children. LOL. If I could only communicate better with my feline and k9 children it would make life so much easier. Even though taking care of Gunner is much like a full-time job (on top of being a full-time student and working all day Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday) I feel okay with the responsibility. It does take away from being able to focus at times because I find myself needing to keep an eye on him every second.
Every morning I am forced to wake up just after Brandon leaves for the academy at 7am because Gunner is now awake and will not go back to sleep. Yesterday morning I awoke to loud whining which was unusual because he is usually located in the kitchen far away from my room. I got out of bed and opened my door to see that Gunner had jumped his gate, pooped two different times in the living room, and was now waiting for me to wake up. I was mad but at the same time continually impressed by his jumping abilities. He knew I was angry and he moped around for the next hour as I got ready for work.
This morning after Brandon left for work I got up in a half awake daze and put two chairs on the outside of the gate so it was impossible for Gunner to get over... that way I could sleep an hour more. Lol. I finally got up and Gunner hung out with me as I got ready for work. I was amazed when he randomly got up from chewing his bone to go to the front door... he stood there for a minute and I immediately realized what he was doing... he had to go to the bathroom!!!! I am so pleased with him, he is actually learning! He also knows how to sit and lay down on command. Yay :o) Soon he will be headed to Petsmart for Obedience Training... in which he will do amazing.
