I wonder who really reads my blog, hmmm... LOL. Hi!
Alright, some words of advice from one active person perhaps speaking to another active person... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE: anti-inflammatory pills of some sort, bengay, heating pads, maybe even icy hot, ice packs, possibly ace bandages, a masseuse, glucocasamine, and vitamins. Haha... maybe it's just me.
I am not as much of an athlete as I used to be that's for sure but I still consider myself a very active person. I can still tumble, do my splits in all different directions, I can still run 5 miles if need be, I can complete a boot camp class without throwing up or passing out, I can do about one push up a second for one minute (ya, that's 60 in one minute), and I can even do a few pull-ups (even more kipping pull-ups). Hehe. I'm in decent shape.
But let me tell you what, no matter how good of shape you think you are in or "aren't in" never take it for granted. Just recently I've been having trouble with my hip. I've been going to the chiropractor for my back and neck. In any case I can't seem to decide which is more painful or annoying... my spine or my dang hip. I think the most frustrating part about my hip is that it actually hinders me from doing activities at the gym. I ran today though I probably shouldn't of. I discovered that it's not the bone or the actual joint per say but that it is the tissue and tendons around it. AHHH I just wish I knew exactly what happened and exactly how to fix it. I should be just resting it, but seriously how long will that take?! It sucks quite frankly and I am just venting about it right now. I don't like not being able to use my full range of motion in my hip area. It's poo!
So today I took a class at the gym and I found myself in extreme pain over my hip. I made sure I was doing my squats appropriately and correctly. I made sure my form was perfect but as soon as I got on the ground to do reverse crunches you might as well shot me in the leg. It just wasn't possible. I went home and went straight to my glucosamine. For those of you who don't know what it is... it is a amino sugar commonly mixed as a sulphate which can assist in the recovery of joint cartilage. I had originally bought it because Brandon said it would help with my knee pain 6 months ago. Eventually my knee pain went away but I'm beginning to think that it might all be related since it's all on my right side.
Now that I actually think about it even more I'm realizing that it is ALL related!!! I've been going to Brandon's chiropractor now for a couple weeks. He took x-rays which I got to see yesterday. It was way cool, not only did I see all my neat looking bones but also my piercings seemingly floating in thin air. LOL. When we assessed my x-rays it is clear that my neck is lacking the correct curvature in fact it is slightly curved the wrong way!!! Craziness, I actually already knew that it was that way since I had x-rays and an MRI in Malaysia a couple years ago. They said it could be from an old whiplash injury. They asked if I had been in any car accidents... LOL. I had to explain the extint of gymnastic, dance, and cheer career. My x-rays this time also showed that my spine is curved to the right, but luckily it's not scoliosis. In any case it is fixable it is due to muscular tissue and tendons that are tight and pulling my bones all over the place! I'll be like an amoeba soon. Hehe!
It helped explain a lot about what's been going on with my back for the last few years. I know I have to take action. I have officially noticed that I tend to feel better when I work out, when I am not stressed, when I take anti-inflammatory pills, when I take glucosamine, and when I get massages!!!
